"LJC Choir wins AGT Contest! 22nd June 2013
On their first ever performance, the choir formed by me at LJC Vocal Studios won their heat. On their second ever performance they won the entire contest beating over 60 other acts to the winning post and scoring a massive £500 for charity! I think it's safe to say that we can expect even bigger things from this choir in the next few years!
Check out the York Press article on the whole thing HERE!
The choir started off with their first ever performance at The Ainsty pub on Boroughbridge Road in York singing Olly Murs' Troublemaker and Christina Perri's Jar of Hearts. The judges went wild. Despite a few technical hitches they still managed to beat 7 other contestants and go through to the final which was held on 21st June 2013.
At the final the choir performed Adele's Skyfall which had some beautiful harmonies if I do say so myself and topped it off with the classic 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' (the Sister Act 2 version). They even jumped down off the stage to sing their last few notes completely acapella! Once again the judges were completely blown away and gave some fantastic comments about the choir!
So, I would like to take this opportunity to say a few thank you's... Firstly I would like to thank The Ainsty pub for hosting the competition, it was a superb event and we thoroughly enjoyed it! I'd also like to thank Caroline Grant from Le Grande Event Management for organising everything and also the various judges at the event who had a pretty tough job deciding between all the amazing acts!
Also, the runner up in the competition, Beth McCarthy, is absolutely fantastic! You should definitely check her out next time she's gigging in York!
The choir will also be performing at The Ainsty Fest on Saturday 3rd August, so if you missed out on their first 2 performances, then get yourself down to see their third ever performance!!
Finally, here is a list of all the charities we gave to as a choir! They are all fantastic so instead of picking just one of them to give the £500 to, we decided to split it between all of them, as a promise of more money to come as we keep raising money for charity wherever we go!
